She was a bundle of nerves when her name was called out “ it was her cue to head to the front of the classroom and recite the poem she had written. She was participating in her colleges talent show and, like the others, was stunned by the sheer array of skills on display “ from magic to juggling, to singing to complicated choreographies. Suddenly, the poem shed written felt insignificant and small. The classroom was completely silent when she slowly and nervously recited her poem. The silence persisted when she looked up and, in that moment, it felt as though her world was shattering. But then, her teacher wiped away a small tear and led the class in a thunderous applause. It reminded her that like the crayons in her crayon pouch, it took all kinds of people and skills to make the world the stunning, vibrant place it was. And that was a lesson she would never forget.
